Hey, I’m Seb from Bavaria, Germany where I graduated from high school a few years ago. Being left with so many choices thereafter, I had to recognize that I didn’t have a clue of what to do at that point in life. Since dreams, reality and correlating ideas of the own future seemed to be changing a lot over time for me, I decided to take it slow and easy though I didn’t want to be couchpotatoing.
So I decided on a voluntary social year at the ambulance service, teaching first aid and going on ambulance missions. After dreams of traveling around the world have been crushed by covid I opted for eleven months of voluntary military service at an infantry regiment at the German army. I learned a lot in those two years though both wasn’t what I desired to do more of.
On a three week trip to a well-known community in Costa Rica I was introduced to the concept of permaculture within a farming course which grabbed me by the throat and pushed my next move to go work and travel on farms, in communities and soon also on sites of friends in Costa Rica and Nicaragua for half a year, seeking knowledge and skills within the world of permaculture. During this time I met up with a very good friend to do a PDC at Rancho Mastatal.
I was astonished by their way to be and the community mood especially since climate change on the contrary is often sold as an almost lost battle. Well then one thing led to another and schwups I’m an Apprentice.
Ever since then I was able to narrow down my interest in the complex of permaculture to mainly syntropic foresting, but also natural building, community building and maybe farm to table^^. Increasingly learning more about those, I aim at being able to use my knowledge and skills to come up with lasting solutions not only for the countryside but also for urban and suburban areas to help people around the globe at working with nature instead of working against it.
