Grant Munro
I'm Grant and have spent the last 10  years working as a chiropractor in the UK,  prior to which working in construction as a scaffolder for 5 years.

I first heard of the Ranch's apprenticeship during a recent 6 month sabbatical - taken to deal with a developing burnout from work and city living , re-evalute values and life goals while simultaneously holding the intention to establish a deeper connection to the Earth and elements.

Spending the first month in Sri Lanka working at an Ayuvedic retreat I realised just how disconnected from nature I had become - even though I spent many weekends of the year hiking, camping and starting to surf during my down time in the UK.  I was starting to affirm my belief that much of the conditions I was seeing in practice were as the result of being disconnected not only from ourselves and our own values but from the elements that we are made from, our natural rhythms and not having strong community.

Observing the identities I had built for myself to survive in the western world dissolve over the next 6 months as a healer and athlete,  I knew returning to the city was not really an option and a series of serendipitous events introduced me to Rancho Mastatal.

Permaculture and sustainable living was something that kept popping up during the time in Central America and after reading and sitting with the ethos of the Ranch I felt the next step was to jump in feet first.

My goals over the next 12 months are to learn and develop the skills to not only live a more sustainable lifestyle myself, but be able to promote and pass this information and skill-set on to others, create and develop other projects while understanding more deeply what it takes to live and contribute in community.

Looking forward to the coming year!
